Showers and thunderstorms will remain active for the remainder of the week across the nation’s southern tier.  Some of the heaviest rain, locally 2 to 6 inches or more during the next 5 days, will stretch from central and eastern Texas to the southern Atlantic Coast.  Farther west, monsoon-related rainfall could locally reach 1 to 2 inches in the Four Corners States.  Meanwhile, substantial Northern rainfall should be limited to scattered locations; totals could exceed an inch across portions of the northern Plains and the Northeast.
