Much of the country will experience warm, dry weather for the remainder of the week. Areas expecting completely dry weather for the next 5 days include much of northern California, the southern half of the Plains, the lower half of the Mississippi Valley, and interior sections of the Southeast. Meanwhile, a slow-moving storm system currently crossing the upper Midwest will drift northeastward, passing north of New England at mid-week. Late in the week, a trailing disturbance could result in additional rain in the upper Great Lakes region, where 5-day totals could reach 1 to 3 inches or more.
