Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of cooler-than-normal weather from the southern Plains and Midwest to the East Coast, while near- to above-normal temperatures prevail from the central and northern Plains to the Pacific Coast.
Drier-than-normal conditions will persist from the central and northern Pacific Coast into the Ohio Valley and northern Delta. Wetter-than-normal weather will be confined to locales along and just north of the Mexico border, central and southern Florida, and northern New England.
