Over the next couple of days, the coldest air of the season will overspread much of the eastern half of the U.S. Freezes should occur throughout the central Plains and Ohio and Tennessee Valleys, while widespread frost may reach at least as far south as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. The cold outbreak should peak across the upper Midwest on Tuesday morning (with scattered readings below 10°F) and the middle and lower Mississippi Valley on Wednesday.
