Another quiet start for direct cash cattle trade activity.  Bids have yet to surface, asking prices are around $151 to $152 live in the South, but the North has not been established.  While some scattered trade could develop yet today, the bulk of the week’s business will likely take place midweek or later. 

Boxed beef is higher at midday on solid demand for light offerings.  Choice is $3.95 higher at $261.98 and Select is $1.79 higher at $227.40.  The Choice/Select spread is $34.47. 

At the Tri-State Livestock Auction in Nebraska, compared to last week steers were $1 to $8 higher and heifers were $1 to $6 higher.
