US Representative Ashley Hinson says Congress is ready to help avert a railroad strike if all 12 labor unions can’t reach a new agreement by November 19th.

“Congress’ authority would be to extend the cooling off period, so that the strike would be pushed back,” she said. “It’s important that workers get a deal that works for them, and that the railroads have a deal that works for them also. I know those negotiations are ongoing.”

The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield a rail strike would threaten the agricultural economy.
