A very light, scattered direct cash cattle trade is underway following the light to moderate business that took place on Wednesday. Live deals in the South are at $154. Bids in the South are at $152 to $154 live. Asking prices are at $156 to $157 live in the South and $249-plus dressed in the North. Deals in the North on Wednesday were at $247 dressed, $2 below the previous week’s weighted averages.
Boxed beef is mixed at midday on light to moderate demand for light offerings. Choice is $2.32 lower at $246.64 and Select is $1.52 higher at $221.29. The Choice/Select spread is $25.35.
At the Hub City Livestock Auction in South Dakota, compared to last week the best test was on yearling steers 900 to 1000 pounds were $4 to $6 higher.
