During the next 5 days, a pair of fast-moving storms will have a variety of impacts, mainly across the central and eastern U.S.  However, both storms will originate in the western U.S., with the first system currently traversing the Southwest.  By Saturday, snow will blanket (and provide limited drought relief on) the central Plains, while showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread across the Deep South.  Precipitation—rain and snow—will move into the East late in the weekend and early next week, while the second storm will take shape over the Rockies.
