At mid-week, a low-pressure system developing along the tail of a cold front will generate increasingly heavy rain across the mid-South, extending into the Midwest.  Storm-total rainfall could reach 2 to 4 inches from northeastern Texas into the lower Ohio Valley.  Most Midwestern precipitation totals should range from 1 to 2 inches, extending as far north and west as eastern Iowa and southern Wisconsin.  Wet snow may blanket portions of the Great Lakes region.  In addition, locally severe thunderstorms may develop in the lower Mississippi Valley and environs, with peak activity expected late Wednesday into Thursday.
