An Illinois-based agronomist says new regulations have soybean farmers in the I-states adjusting their herbicide programs ahead of planting season.

Chris Brown with Burrus Seed tells Brownfield dicamba products cannot be applied after June 12th or the V4 stage in Illinois, Indiana or Iowa.

“The most important thing is to review the information released by the EPA in the last couple of weeks. Make sure they are on board with those and make sure that fits their system.”

He says if growers determine the changes won’t fit their cropping plan this year, they should look for alternatives sooner rather than later. 

“That could be maintaining the Extend cropping system but using different herbicides in season.
