During the next 5 days, a progressive weather pattern will feature relatively weak, fast-moving cold fronts crossing the country. Accordingly, much of the U.S. will receive some precipitation, although amounts will be mostly light. Some of the heaviest rain, locally 1 to 2 inches or more, should fall from portions of the central and southern Plains into the Southeast. Meanwhile, much of the Midwest will receive only spotty showers, mainly during the second half of the week.
