Direct cash cattle trade activity is at a standstill. Bids and asking prices have yet to be floated today. Showlists this week are lower across all major feeding areas. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until midweek or later. There were a handful of deals reported in Nebraska on Monday at $290 dressed, however that’s not near enough business to establish a trend.
Boxed beef was mixed at midday on light to moderate demand for moderate offerings. Choice was $1.08 lower at $331.96 and Select was $.29 higher at $299.96. The Choice/Select spread was $32.00.
