Arkansas crops are progressing ahead of last year and the five-year average.

The USDA reports as of Sunday 66% of corn, 69% of cotton, 80% of peanuts, and 65% of soybeans are rated good to excellent. The alfalfa hay crop is only rated 43 percent good.

Nearly all crops are progressing ahead of average with 91% of the corn crop silking, 62% in the dough stage, 30% dented, and 2% mature.
