Direct cash cattle trade activity has improved some. A bid has surfaced at $291 dressed in Nebraska, well below the current asking prices of $295 dressed in the North. Southern live asking prices are around $183 plus. Look for packer inquiry to improve as the week progresses.
Boxed beef is mixed at midday on light to moderate demand for solid offerings. Choice is $.74 lower at $303.94 and Select is $.55 higher at $277.16. The Choice/Select spread is $26.78.
At the Kingsville Livestock Auction in Missouri, steers were steady to firm and heifers were steady to $6 higher.
