Another quiet start for direct cash cattle business following the week’s light to moderate trade.  The lone bid to surface is in Nebraska at $182 live.  Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around $184 live in the South and $292 dressed in the North.  It’s likely the bulk of the week’s business has wrapped up, but a few more deals could be reported before the end of the day Friday.  So far this week deals in the North have ranged from $288 to $291, mostly $290 to $291, steady to $1 higher than the prior week’s weighted average basis.
