A central Missouri farmer says the recent rains have helped boost the moisture content of the soybeans.

Nathan Alpers tells Brownfield the moisture in the soybeans increased slightly over a short time, which will help increase yield.

“The soybeans were at 8% moisture and we came back the next morning to harvest and the moisture had increased to 12.5%. It took three-tenths of an inch of rain to get the moisture basically up to dry.”

Alpers says soybean harvest should be complete by the end of the week and more rain would be helpful to replenish the dry river bottom soils ahead of fall fieldwork.
