At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were lower on the lack of follow-through buying and the recent slide in boxed beef. February live cattle closed $.55 lower at $170.57 and April live cattle closed $.90 lower at $173.40. March feeder cattle closed $1.50 lower at $224.15 and April feeder cattle closed $1.50 lower at $229.77.
Direct cash cattle trade activity picked up some as the day progressed Friday, but overall, it was slow.
