A final strong push of modified Arctic air will arrive across the northern Plains, Midwest, and East over the next few days.  Sub-zero temperatures will persist through Sunday in parts of the Midwest, followed by a marked warming trend.  Before milder air arrives, a stripe of wintry precipitation will stretch from coast to coast, from the Pacific Northwest into parts of the Midwest, as well as portions of the middle and northern Atlantic States.  During the weekend and early next week, locally significant precipitation will fall across the Pacific Coast States, with some of the highest totals expected in northern and central California.
