One lawmaker says Congress needs to stay updated on highly pathogenic avian influenza developments.
U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson of Iowa says she was surprised the virus was recently detected in some dairy cattle in Texas and Kansas. “The minute I heard that, all the hair on my arm stood up because this is a huge hazardous issue for our producers.”
She tells Brownfield she’s been discussing the issue with Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig.
