An eastern Iowa farmer says the lack of a new five-year farm bill isn’t a surprise.
Lance Lillibridge tells Brownfield, “It’s always disappointing when we’re not getting the work done in Washington, but I think we kind of all expected it.”
He says a robust farm bill would provide the ag industry some much-needed certainty. “The amount of input that goes into agriculture and not having a good safety net on that could be catastrophic to the country and I think a lot of people don’t understand that.”
Lillibridge says he remains hopeful Congress will finalize a new farm bill, rather than passing another one-year extension of the 2018 legislation.
