After two straight trading sessions with significant price drops, the Global Dairy Trade index has rebounded. The index rose 2.8% in Tuesday’s trading session to an average of $3,558 per metric ton.
Only lactose and buttermilk powder lost ground Tuesday. Buttermilk powder fell 0.5% to $2,496 per metric ton or $1.13 per pound. Lactose was down 3.1% to $753 per metric ton or $0.34 per pound.
Cheddar cheese made the biggest gain, up 4.1% to $4,340 per metric ton or $1.96 per pound.
