An ag meteorologist says warmer, drier weather is in the forecast for much of the Corn Belt for mid-to-late April.

Greg Soulje says many farmers should be able to take advantage of the good conditions and make planting progress.

“The western and northwestern Corn Belt locales might actually get a quicker start than some of the eastern and southern areas. Generally, west to east across the complex, we’ll see a transition to some early season fieldwork in the second half of April.”

He says the portions of the Corn Belt that have received more moisture than others over the last month will take longer to the crop planted.
