The extended farm bill covers programs for most of 2024, but an agricultural banker says there’s another upcoming deadline that will impact the next farm bill. 

Ed Elfmann with the American Bankers Association tells Brownfield leaders in the House of Representatives want to get a markup of the farm bill done in May. “The issue is where the budget turns over at the end of May, so they have to try to make sure they get a markup done basically before, I think it’s May 27th.”

Elfmann says farm bill activity has picked up in the House.
