A central Illinois farmer says this spring has been a struggle.

“We’re really hoping an open window is coming where we’re going to be able to get something done,” he says.

Elliott Uphoff, who farms in Shelby County, tells Brownfield that he only had 100 acres of soybeans planted as of May 17th.

“I’m feeling good. We haven’t made any mistakes yet, so that’s good.”  He says, “There’s still a window to get things planted and it’s not as timely as we’d like, but I still think the opportunity to plant a good crop is out there.
