A market analyst says he’s expecting a slight shift in corn acres when USDA releases its annual acreage report at the end of the month.

Don Roose with U.S. Commodities says “as of right now, I would say corn acres, because we think there were a few acres switched, but I think they might be down one million. Soybean acres might be up one million. Part of that is an adjustment from the March report and the other part of it is based on how the crop went in.”

In March, USDA’s Prospective Plantings report had corn planting at 90 million acres, less than last year and soybean planting at 86.5 million acres, an increase from a year ago.
