A correction from yesterday, the Franklin Field ground breaking was yesterday, Tuesday, at 1:15. A crowed that consisted of students, faculty, school board members, and community members gathered for the ceremony. Superintendent of schools, Dr. Theron Schutte, talks about how important Franklin Field has been to this community.

Dr. Schutte shares that back in 1922 when the field first opened, Marshalltown was not the Bobcats but the Bulldogs. The student body voted a few years later to change to the Bobcats.

Dr. Schutte says that his class in 1980-1981, were the final year they played football games at Franklin Field.

Franklin Field was a project Dr. Schutte knew would take a significant amount of money, and he thanked the community for supporting the vision with the Reimagine Miller Bond.

Franklin Field is just another facility that the Marshalltown Community School District is bringing to the 21st century. Many extracurricular facilities have been touched in the last decade.
