The end of July saw the end of week 17 of construction as the process to revitalize downtown Marshalltown continues. With week 17, we saw the beginning of the paving process and the closure of some of the sidewalk access downtown. The usual crosswalk is expected to remain closed through at least this weekend. As such, proper signage will be posted showing an alternative crosswalk just north of the closure on N Center St. All business access will remain open, so don’t be discouraged from visiting all your favorite local businesses despite the sidewalk closer. Looking ahead into next week, crews are expected to continue this phase with more concrete pours as well as the start to electrical and irrigation installations in the designated sidewalk areas.
