Summertime always brings a higher need for blood collection for a variety of reasons.  Tim Paluch, PR and Marketing with Lifeserve Blood Center, talks about the dog days of summer for them.

Paluch says all blood types are needed as they supply blood for all of the local hospitals.  There are some types that they seek out a bit more.

He is encouraging anyone with those blood types to really consider donating blood especially if you are on the fence about it.  There is a center in Marshalltown.
