Another week has come and gone in the construction efforts of downtown Marshalltown and the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce provided much detail in their weekly email update. This week marked the conclusion of week 20 of construction and crews have officially finished removing the previous sidewalks along Center Street. With those sidewalks gone, crews have now begun installing the new sidewalk pavers which will bring a new and refreshed look to the downtown area. As we move in to next week, crews will be busy with numerous sidewalk pours throughout the project area, along with continued irrigation and electrical work to lay the groundwork for future enhancements. Currently, a ribbon cutting is set for September 8th from 4:30-5:30 pm at the corner of Center and Main St. to conclude phase one of the reconstruction efforts and lay out what Phase 2 will entail. There will also be free paletas (a type of Mexican popsicle) and guided back-in parking demonstrations. All information is also available on the Chamber’s Facebook page as well as their website, marshalltown.org.
