This weekend marks an important milestone in the construction taking place in downtown Marshalltown. As week 22 comes and goes, phase one of the project draws its conclusion and phase two is set to begin. This second step begins with the first block of East Main St. on the north side of the courthouse. This phase requires the closure of the block, scheduled to begin today. The transition will closely follow the reopening of South Center Street, also scheduled for today, ensuring that access is restored in one area before restrictions take place in the next. On Monday, September 8th, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony from 4:30-5:50pm including free paletas (a Mexican frozen treat) as well as guided back-in parking demonstrations and a Paint-A-Brick station.
