Part of the grant that Marshalltown Park and Recreation received to plant trees was to engage the public on education.  New Park and Recreation Director, Kelsie Stafford says they are calling on families to help plant 18 trees in a couple parks in town.

Stafford says people just need to bring their strong backs and gloves with them to volunteer, her team will provide the rest of the equipment. Learn more by stopping by their office of heading online to marshalltownparkandrec.com.  Stafford says another tree project is happening in Ward 1 starting October 6th.  There will be 200 trees planted in Ward 1 this fall.

This grant is to help bring back the canopy in Ward 1 after it was hit by the tornado and derecho in the previous decade. There will be a variety of trees planted in Ward 1.
