There were a few tight races last night for the City and School Election. In Marshalltown the Mayor and At-Large City Council were both close, for Mayor, Mike Ladehoff earns 1,773 votes to Gary Thompson’s 1,567. Ladehoff won by 206 votes. For At-Large City Council there were two spots open, Sue Cahill was the top vote getter there with 1,997. Followed by Jeff Schneider who earned 1,729. Scott McLain was in third place with 1,279 and Tim Bradbury had 899.
The School Board race in Marshalltown had three open spots and four people running. Leah Stanley had the most votes with 2,281. Zach Wahl was in second place with 1,981 votes. Eric Goslinga beat out incumbent Karina Hernandez for the final spot, Goslinga received 1,891 votes to Hernandez’s 1,835.
Public Measure for West Marshall passed. East Marshall the $4.05 bond passed with 733 yes votes to 359 no votes. West Marshall the yes votes had 1,063 votes to the 588 no votes.
More from the election in Central Iowa, in Tama County there was a tight race for the City of Tama’s two At-Large City Council seats as Kristy Eisentrager wins with 118 votes closely followed by Chris Smith with 115 and Elaina Martinez earned 101. In Traer, Peter Holden won the Mayor race with 158 votes over Kennan Seda’s 54. North Tama School Board race in district 1 was won by Seth Seda with 224 votes to Jordan Hagedon’s 130. District 4 was won by Marty Dostal with 194 votes over Denny Berger and Jayme Roudabush.
In Poweshiek County, City of Brooklyn Mayor was between Matthew VanTomme and Les Taylor. VanTomme wins with 126 votes to Taylors 100. The City of Grinnell Mayor was won by Sam Cox with 1,192 votes to Russ Crawford’s 864. Ward 1 City Council in Grinnell was tight as John Cox beats out Lee Staroska 261 to 212.
In Grundy County, the City of Grundy Center has two At Large seats open on their City Council. Erik Stensland had the most votes with 160, then Erika Lam with 154, David Stefl earned 150 and Ryan Rasmussen got 131.
In Nevada, the mayor race was tight as it was separated by 106 votes. Ryan Condon wins with 807 votes to Barbara Mittman’s 701. Then in Ward 4 for Nevada, Charles Good beats out Dane Nealson 248 to 202. Finally, the At-Large City Council race in Nevada was won by Andy Kelly with 848 votes to Melissa Muschick’s 644.
The Mayor of Gilbert was won by Jonathan Popp over Tyler Gray 170 to 77 votes. For Gilbert’s School Board, Joshua Bennett and Dakota Hoben were the top two vote getters beating out Jerud Thompson and Jossie Gray.
The City of Slater had three spots open with At-Large seats. AJ Strumpfer had the most votes with 346, followed by Julie Weeks with 320 and Russ Terhaar with 301.
