A couple of incumbents were swept away when it came to the U.S. House of Representatives.
In Iowa’s first congressional district, which Marshall County is a part off. Democrat Abby Finkenauer ousted incumbent republican Rod Blum. She will become the second youngest woman to serve in the U.S. House.
Finkenuaer will join Cindy Axne in the 2019 freshman class in the U.S. House. Axne, a Democrat, defeated Republican incumbent David Young in the third district, denying him a third term in Washington,
Democrat Dave Loebsack was re-elected in the 2nd District, while 4th District incumbent Steve King held off the challenge of Democrat J.D. Scholten.
