To the surprise of very few, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a.k.a. as FEMA has turned away the appeal of Governor Kim Reynolds for individual disaster assistance for Marshall and Polk counties as a result of the July 19th tornado.
FEMA stuck to its guns from its initial denial that state damage was not bad enough or widespread enough to warrant the assistance.
The state has an estimate of 900 houses damaged in Marshall County. The VALOR program was established in October to help assist with residential repairs, but you only have until December 27th to apply for that program.
