The Marshalltown Bobcats, as well as the community, have been mourning the passing of former basketball coach and Athletic Director George Funk late last week.

Funk took over the Bobcat basketball program in 1963, winning a state title in 1996. He added Athletic Director’s duties in 1989. Overall, Funk was part of the Cats for 36 years.

Services for the 85-year old Iowa Hall of Famer are pending at Anderson Funeral Homes.
