Minnesota crop condition ratings continue to be among the highest in the nation.

The latest weekly USDA report says as of Sunday, 84 percent of the state’s corn and soybean acres are in good to excellent condition.  That’s a one percent improvement on the week for corn, while the soybean rating held steady.

Spring wheat jointing is near 50 percent, four days ahead of last year but four days behind the five-year average.  Eighty-eight percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Minnesota sugarbeets are in great shape, with 98 percent of the acreage rated good to excellent.

And the first cutting of alfalfa advanced to 73 percent, while hay condition declined slightly to 70 percent good to excellent.
