Bonnie L. Minteer, 88 of Union, IA, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Eldora Specialty Care in Eldora, IA, following a short illness. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Union Community Church in Union. Rev. John Richter and Rev. Ralph Norman will be co-officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m., until the time of the services, at the church. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery in Union. Memorials may be directed to the Union Community Church or the Union Public Library Union. Arrangements are entrusted to the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes. Bonnie was born October 27, 1931, near Union, IA, the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (Farrill) Crosser. As a young child, her family moved near Iowa Falls, IA, where she attended elementary country school and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1949. Following graduation, she attended Ellsworth Community College and UNI teachers college where she received her teaching certification. Bonnie taught in a county school for four years. She was united in marriage June 7, 1953, to Lyle Minteer of Union, in Manhattan, KS, where Lyle was serving in the military. Together they were blessed with two children, Bill and Becky. In March of 1955, they returned home following Lyle’s military service to the family farm west of Union, where they lived until August of 2014 when they moved to a home in Union. Bonnie helped Lyle with the farming operation, as well as worked at Vaux Welding as a bookkeeper. She served as a 4-H leader for 25 years and substitute taught in the Union School District. Bonnie was deeply committed to serving the Lord as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher for over 60 years at Chester Friends Church until it closed and then as an adult Sunday School teacher at the Union Community Church. She was a faithful servant of Christ and read and studied the Bible daily with a special interest in Bible history. She also enjoyed quilting with the women at the Union Community Church and created many beautiful quilts and blankets for children, including her own grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bonnie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and neighbor. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 years, Lyle; their children: Bill Minteer of Union and Becky (Don) McKibben of Marshalltown, IA; along with many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her survivors also include her sister, Geraldine (Vic) Schulz of Nevada, IA; and sister-in-law Karen Crosser of Iowa Falls; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Crosser, sister-in-law Velma Crosser, brother Gary Crosser, and daughter-in-law Rose Minteer.
