EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler has said his agency is working on the 2021 Renewable Volume Obligations, but the pandemic has made it challenging.
Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper says that doesn’t add up.
“We’re not talking about what happened in 2020, we’re talking about next year’s RFS requirements,” he says. “We really failed to understand what vehicle miles traveled in 2020 has to do with setting the 2021 RVO.”
He says the only data points that matter are the ones that go into the RVO formula each year and EPA is bound to use data from the Energy Information Administration for that.
