The World Food Programme has been awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
As the world’s largest humanitarian organization, the WFP addresses hunger and promotes food security.
The Nobel Prize committee says the WFP bettered conditions for peace in conflict areas by preventing the use of hunger as a weapon. The committee says the WFP ‘contributes daily to advancing the fraternity of nations’ and has intensified its efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
