Elk Point, South Dakota corn grower Brennen Bird is South Dakota’s corn yield champion for 2020. His nearly 311 bushel an acre yield topped South Dakota’s 157 entries in the National Corn Yield Contest.
“We just like to have fun and see what the crop can do,” said Bird, explaining to Brownfield Ag News his reasons for entering the contest, his third in as many years.
Bird – competing in the conventional non-irrigated category – used Pioneer P1185AM seed.
