The president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association says they will fight the last-minute and illegal small refinery exemptions granted to three oil refiners by the Trump administration Tuesday evening, just hours before President Trump leaves office.
In a statement to reporters, Geoff Cooper said the “midnight-hour attempt by the Trump Administration to damage the Renewqble Fuel Standard and sabotage the ethanol industry’s recovery from the pandemic cannot be allowed to prevail.”
Cooper says Administrator Wheeler’s decision flouts both the law and recent court decisions that limit EPA’s authority and ability to grant these exemptions.
