You are invited to join author and illustrator Brenda De Bruin for book signing events in August and September! Brenda is a native of Pella, with a background in graphic design and a love for children’s books. She began to realize when her own children were young that her dream was to become a published children’s book author and illustrator, after numerous enjoyable trips to the Pella Public library with her son and daughter, followed by the contentment of watching them read happily while surrounded by huge piles of books they had brought home!

Her debut children’s picture book, If Henley Had a Honey, is a delightful exploration of the seasons of the year as experienced by two bears and their curious, mischievous pet rabbit, Fern. Children are eager to look for Fern on every page to see what kind of mess she has gotten into now! The story is illustrated with photographs of miniature scenes created by the author, whose hope is to inspire young readers to create with the bits and pieces of everyday things they find around them. Book characters Honey, Henley, and Fern will be present at the events in a diorama, giving children a unique opportunity to understand how the illustrations were made.
