In Marshalltown this day, a Community Picnic and a Prayer Service for the fallen police officer victims at West Anson and South Second Streets. KFJB/KXIA sold special tee shirts created by Minute Man Printing with proceeds to be given to the families of the victims.

A national charity says it will donate funds to help the families of the two police officers fatally shot in ambush-style attacks.

The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced that it would help the families of Des Moines Sgt. Anthony Beminio and Urbandale Officer Justin Martin.

The foundation also said it would pay off the mortgage on Beminio’s home.

The suspect in the attacks, Scott Greene, was ordered held on $10 million bond on Friday. He’s been charged with first-degree murder.

Police have asked that donations be made to the Des Moines Police Officers’ Credit Union. CEO Andy Fogle says the credit union has received more than 800 online donations so far.

Iowa-based grocery store chain Hy-Vee has pledged $25,000 to each officer’s family.
