The Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service which seemingly feels like it has gone on forever continues today, having been extended to Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday the high in Marshalltown was 93 degrees with a peak heat index of 112. Around the state of Iowa the high temp for the day was again at Sioux City with a reading of 97 degrees. In Marshalltown today the peak heat index will make it feel like 107, tomorrow it will feel like 105. For the record the area had some pop up precipitation activity Thursday night with some light rain and sprinkles that including some lightning.
