Des Moines, IA) – Plans continue to move forward to raise the minimum wage for workers in Polk County. A task force has recommended a hike in the minimum wage ultimately reaching $10.75 an hour by January 2019. In the meantime, workers in Polk County could see their hourly rate go up to $8.75 beginning in April. The task force has also recommended the wage hike be applied to workers under the age of 18. The proposal now goes to the County Board of Supervisors.
