Listeners in the KFJB and KIX 101.1 listening area took time Sunday to remember September 11th of 2001 and the awful nightmare that it was 15 years ago. Everyone will tell you it’s the type of memory that will make you always remember where you were and what you were doing at the time. Flags were at half staff and participants at church services prayed for the victims of the tragedy. The passage of time has not lessened the feelings of horror of those moments. The innumerable acts of courage from people will be long remembered. Carlos Portes of Marshalltown, a US Ambassador, was working in New York City at the time and found himself working tirelessly to coordinate a rescue effort in which he says time stood still for the longest time.
