While the state of Iowa’s unemployment rate remained the same, Marshall County’s unemployment rate decreased in January.  That’s according to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development. As a matter of act, all of central Iowa’s county’s saw decreases in unemployment.

In Marshall County, the rate dropped from 7.4 to 6.8 as compared to January 2017. Story County continues to see the lowest unemployment rate, 1.8 percent compared to 2.4 percent a year ago.

Iowa remained steady overall at 2.9. percent. The country’s unemployment rate remained steady for the fourth straight month at 4.1 percent.
