A NASA space probe launching today has some University of Iowa connections. U of I physicist Jasper Halekas is a co-inventor of the Parker Solar Probe.  He helped design SWEAP (Solar Wind Electrons Alphas and Protons) comprised of three clusters of instruments onboard the spacecraft with a reflective heat shield designed to withstand temperatures of 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit.
