The State Senate and House races in our area all went to the incumbents. That includes House District 72 where Republican Dean Fisher defeated Democrat Mindy Benson by 20 percentage points.

Fisher says it was a little disappointing that the GOP lost a couple of state wide races, but he is pleased his party remains the majority in both houses of the state legislature.

The only state  wide race that was not won by an incumbent on Tuesday was the state auditor’s race.

Democrat Rob Sand, an aggressive fundraiser and campaigner, unseated Republican State Auditor Mary Mosiman .

Those re-elected were Secretary of State Paul pate, Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig, who took over that position earlier this year when Bill Northey took a USDA position, State Treasurer Mike Fitzgerald and Attorney General Tom Miller.
