Marshalltown has started working to repair and rebuild within the community. Under a federally funded program called VALOR, close to 100 homes will have essential repairs done in the next few months to ensure the homeowners are kept warm and safe this winter. In order for these, and other repairs to be done, Central Iowa RSVP is looking to bring in volunteers to work on multiple construction sites.
Volunteers do not need to have any construction experience but do need to meet the current age requirements of 18 and older. VALOR expires March 11, 2019, at which point work will continue and volunteers between 14-17 will be allowed to work on specified work sites.
Any groups that would like to come and volunteer are welcome to use the contact information provided to coordinate a time that is conducive to their schedules. For groups willing to stay for multiple days, housing arrangements can be accomodated. Work will begin in January and continue throughout the year.
Central Iowa RSVP is the agency leading all volunteer coordination in the long term recovery of Marshalltown.
